FAQHow do I choose the right psychologist for me?You can use a screening process when you ring a psychologist listed on this site. Ask them some general questions. Listen to their answers, pay attention to the way they communicate and ask am I connecting with this person? Do they appear friendly? Do they sound compassionate and understanding? Etc… if you like what you hear then arrange an appointment and attend the consultation be sure to have some information written down about the problem you have, with some questions about what you would like to achieve from consulting the clinician. Make up your mind after the consultation. How do I know if I need to see a Psychologist?Consider your current situation and ask am I coping with life events? if your answer is not unequivocal then raise it with your health practitioner and ask whether there is anything else you could be doing to improve your ability to cope. What measures are used for quality control of the psychologists who offer their services via apspp.com.au?In registering psychologists and probationary psychologists we consult their state registration board database to ascertain their details. However, we also rely on good faith and the clinician’s personal ethics. Does apspp.com.au only list psychologists?This website is only for State Registered psychologists and probationary psychologists. We take every care to make sure that only psychologists are registered with us. However, sometimes this can be outside of our control. You can assist us by asking the psychologist for their State Registered number. They must provide this to you. Should they refuse this information, you can contact us and let us know. How do I find a psychologist on apspp.com.au?It is easy as:
1. Choose the State that you live in, 2. Choose a suburb and
3. Click on the results.
By doing this a page will open with the clinicians’ details. You will note that some clinicians have a full listing page. They are the ones who have registered their full details with us after paying a small fee. Others are yet to register with us. Why can’t I access the members’ page?The members’ page is restricted to psychologists and probationary psychologists. It allows clinicians to communicate about issues which are of relevance to clinical practice. What types of memberships are available on apspp.com.au for psychologists?The following offer is available to all State Registered psychologists and probationary psychologists.
Bronze Membership:
a bronze membership allows the clinician to register all his/her details on this website. They are able to provide details about their services, upload their logo, attach a link to their own website.
Gold Membership:
a gold membership provides the same privileges as a bronze membership with the added extra of being able to access the full features of the member's page. Why do some psychologists only have their phone number and address listed?Psychologists and probationary psychologist who have subscribed to this website will have all their details listed with us. Those who have not yet registered with us ,will be provided with a courtesy listing. As some areas only have one psychologist we, at APSPP, believe that members of the public should be aware that a service is available. How do I make a booking with a local psychologist?Use the details provided on this website to make contact with your local psychologists or probationary psychologist. Make sure to ask them whether you require a medical practitioner’s referral to consult them. Most psychologists do not require a referral. I have changed my contact number. How can I change this on the database?Once you have become a member you own the contact page and therefore can make any changes to your details at any time. This is one of the many features of belonging to our website. |
